Transfer/Restyling Rules & Procedures

Dancer Transfer Rules & Procedures

Application forms must be submitted to your branch secretary/transfer officer for consideration

If a teacher of CRDM is approached by a parent/guardian or a dancer from another school in the organisation requesting a transfer to their school they must adhere to the transfer rules as set out below:

    1. Any new schools/teachers established in CRDM must be teaching for a period of 2 years within the organisation before they can accept any transfers from another CRDM school.

    2. Any established schools who register with CRDM must be a member of the organisation for a period of 1 year before taking transfers from another CRDM school.

    3. Teachers should encourage the parents/dancers to try to resolve any issues they may have with their current teacher and to remain dancing with that school.

    4. If the parents/dancers feel it is impossible for them to remain in the school you must contact their current teacher and inform them of the transfer request.

      1. The following methods of communication are acceptable: Email or Letter. Please note a telephone call text message is not sufficient.

    1. The new teacher and the parents requesting the transfer must complete the Transfer Application From.

    2. The fully completed application form must be submitted to the branch secretary/transfer officer.

    3. Applications will be approved at the next branch meeting.

By completing and signing the transfer application form all parties involved (teachers, dancers and parents) are agreeing to the following:

Dancers will have a six month restyling period

The restyling period will begin on the 1st of the month following the transfer application form being received by the branch secretary/transfer officer.

During the six month restyling period dancers may not compete in any Feiseanna (solo or team dancing). This includes competitions being run by CRDM and competitions run by other organisations. Dancers/Teachers found to be in breach of this rule will be subjected to a further six month restyling period (12 months in total).

Dancers will not perform any material that was choreographed by their previous school/teacher.

The branch secretary/transfer officer will notify the teacher in writing of the end date of the restyling period and when the dancer may compete in Feiseanna.

Details of Restyling periods

Where a dancer has transferred school and they are competing at Feiseanna run by CRDM they must perform the choreography of their new school.

Where a dancer leaves a CRDM school and attends another school within CRDM a six month restyling period will apply. The restyling period beings on the 1st of the month following the transfer application form being received by the branch secretary/transfer officer.

Where a dancer leaves a CRDM school, attends a class in another organisation and subsequently returns to their previous school/teacher (within 3 months) a restyling period will not be applicable. However, if the dancer returns to their previous school after 3 months, a six month restyling period will apply.

Where a dancer transfers to a school within CRDM from another organisation a six month restyling period will apply.

Where a dancer leaves a CRDM school and attends a school in another organisation (who are on the visiting teacher list) a restyling period of six months will apply.

Where a dancer is asked to leave a school by the teacher and subsequently joins another school a six month restyling period will apply.

Where a new teacher joins an established school or where two schools amalgamate pupils of the school(s), if they are not satisfied with the arrangement within 1 month, may transfer to any other registered school without a restyling period being applied. After the 1 month deadline normal transfer rules apply.

Where two or more teachers are a part of a school and one or more of them decide to leave the school and terminate the relationship, the pupils of that school may:

    1. Leave/Remain with any of the teachers that were in the school,

    2. Transfer to another school (six month restyling period will apply)

In the event of this happening the dancers will be given 1 month in which to choose their preferred option. The one month period will start from the date of written notification of the school being disbanding by the teachers.

Where a dancer moves location and finds it impossible to attend classes with the current school because the distance is too great a restyling period may not be enforced. The decision will lie with the Executive Committee. If a restyling period is not applied the dancer may only compete at Feiseanna if they are performing the choreography of their current school/teacher.

Where a school closes and the teacher ceases to teach completely a restyling period will not apply to dancers who move to another CRDM school.

Where a school closes a class in a particular venue (but hold classes in other locations) and the dancers of the school find it impossible to attend classes in the other locations the following will apply:

    1. If the schools other locations are within a 15 mile radius from the venue that closed a six month restyling period will apply to dancers who transfer to another class

    2. If the schools other locations are outside a 15 mile radius no restyling period will apply to dancers who transfer to another CRDM school

Where a school changes the days of their classes but not their location and the new schedule does not suit a dancer, a restyling period of six months will apply if they transfer to another school.

Where a beginner dancer is 3 months or less in a class and they wish to transfer to a different class within CRDM a restyling period will not be applicable.

Where a dancer has not attended any dancing class or competed in Feiseanna for a period of 2 years or more a restyling period will be not applicable.

Important Notes

Qualifying for all major competitions (All Irelands & Worlds) must be with your current school. Where a dancer leaves a CRDM school and attends a school in another organisation and subsequently returns to their previous CRDM school, qualification Feiseanna for Worlds & All Irelands begin from the time they return to their school.

Teachers receiving transfers from within CRDM may not exceed five transfers in any year (Jan - Dec).

If a teacher closes their school and the dancers wish to remain in CRDM, this will not affect any other transfers you may receive/have received in that year.

If a teacher receives five transfers within a year and subsequently some of those dancers leave the school no additional replacements will be permitted to that teacher/school.
